FENG SHUI TIPS FOR BUYING A HOUSE (Part 1)

FENG SHUI TIPS FOR BUYING A HOUSE (Part 1): A Partial D.I.Y. Approach

If you are planning to purchase a house it would be advisable to take heed of the following information:

(1)  Make sure the external surrounding environment has desirable Feng Shui in terms of landforms like appropriate types of mountains, hills and natural water entrapment such as lakes, rivers, streams and ponds. [You will need a Feng Shui practitioner for this task.]

(2)  It is desirable for the house to have prosperous facing and sitting directions. This will govern the internal Feng Shui of the house. [This can be a D.I.Y.]

(1) & (2) are extremely important to remember when purchasing a house. They reveal a well-known but seldom remembered secret and that is: LOCATION BEFORE DIRECTION. (Put in a different way: FORM BEFORE FORMULA.)

For example, if one finds a house which has the best facing or sitting directions but is located next to a hospital, cemetery or a large cesspool, then whatever good internal Feng Shui the house has will be largely dissipated and replaced by negative qi. Hence the axiom: LOCATION BEFORE DIRECTION.

While determining the LOCATION (suitable landforms) will require the help of a Feng Shui practitioner, you can easily help yourself by narrowing down the number of potential houses by choosing those houses which face a good direction. It is quite simple: all you need is a compass (either a physical one or a compass app from your cell phone) to take the facing direction of the HOUSE or the FACADE, not the FRONT DOOR. This means you stand with the façade of house behind you and you are facing the same direction as the house. But make sure there are no metal objects like cars or beams nearby because they can influence the accuracy of your compass reading. Take note of the direction and then check if it is facing one of the directions below.

PERIOD 8 (Houses completed between 2004 and 2023)

Any house that is built and completed in Period 8 (2004 – 2023) and faces any one of the directions as shown above is considered a "Grade A" house because it has an arrangement called “Prosperous Sitting, Prosperous Facing” or “On the Mountain, On the Water”.

Now that you have narrowed down the number of potential houses, you can contact a seasoned Feng Shui practitioner to survey the external surrounding environment, help you choose the best house and fine tune its internal Feng Shui such as making sure the main door is located in the appropriate sector to activate and receive the beneficial energy (sheng qi) and other necessary arrangements.
